Chaga, The King of Medicinal Mushrooms!

a must have if you are looking to help prevent and fight cancer!

Today, 1 in 2 dogs are diagnosed with cancer by the age of 10. (1) But today, there is more and more research coming out showing ways we can proactively prevent cancer in our pets.

A study shows that 90% of cancer is preventable but requires major lifestyle changes. This means if we can implement a more healthy lifestyle for our pets then we can proactively make decisions that can help prevent cancer in our pets. (2)

Chaga is often referred to as the King of Medicinal Mushrooms and for very good reasons.

Researchers are finding that Chaga Mushrooms can help stabilize the immune system, fight inflammation, prevent and aid in the fight against cancer, lower blood sugar, and so much more.

Chaga Mushrooms (Inonotus obliquus) are medicinal-grade mushrooms grown around the world and grow mainly on the bark of birch trees in cold climates, such as Northern Europe, Siberia, Russia, Korea, Northern Canada and Alaska.

Chaga looks like a clump of wood while some pieces look like burnt charcoal which is about 25-38 centimeters in size. The inside of chaga is soft and can be orange in color.

top 5 reasons why every pet parent should be including chaga, the king of Mushrooms into their pet’s diet!

  1. Helps to Prevent & Fight Cancer

The extract of Chaga mushrooms causes significant tumor suppressive effects on mice with tumors. Researchers observed a 60% tumor size reduction in mice. (3)

Here is what the study showed:

  • The average tumor size in the treatment group was 60.3% less than in the control group indicating that the continuous uptake of the chaga mushroom extract contained a strong anti-tumor effect.

The intake of the chaga (I. obliquus) extract suppressed tumor development in mice implanted with Lewis lung carcinoma cells. Mice drinking water with or without the I. obliquus aqueous extract were injected 3LL cells subcutaneously in the right flanks and analyzed for tumor size. (A) Representative images of carcinomas. (B) Quantification of tumor size at the indicated times after 3LL cell implantation. (C) The weight of solid tumors at day 16 after 3LL cell implantation. Each dot represents a single mouse and lines show mean values (n = 8 per group; *P < 0.05).

It is believed that the anticancer effect is partly due to chaga’s high content of antioxidants which protects cells in the body from free radicals.

Chaga mushrooms contain the antioxidant, triterpene, and test-tube studies have shown high concentrated amounts of triterpene extract can promote the death of cancer cells. (4)

Free radicals can cause cellular damage and chronic inflammation. The imbalance has been shown to accelerate the aging process and have an increased risk of having certain cancers and other health conditions. (5)

Given the incredible research, Chaga Mushrooms Triple Liquid Extracts would be an important and beneficial addition to any pets diet in order to help prevent cancer, but it is especially important for pets who have been diagnosed with cancer.

2. Amazing Source of Antioxidants

Researchers have taken a close look at chaga mushrooms and have found that chaga mushrooms contain high levels of the antioxidant, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD). Superoxide Dismutase is an enzyme that is responsible for breaking apart and dismantling free radicals throughout the body. Again, free radicals can increase the risk of cancer.

Antioxidants are compounds that help to inhibit or reduce damage caused by oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can come as a result of an imbalance between antioxidants and uncontrolled molecules known as free radicals. Free radicals can cause cellular damage and chronic inflammation. The imbalance has been shown (6) to accelerate the aging process and have an increased risk of having certain cancers and other health conditions.

Research shows eating foods that are rich in antioxidants or supplements with the amazing and impactful compounds can reduce and in some cases neutralize oxidative stress.

3. Regulates the Immune System

Chaga mushrooms can help to regulate your pet’s immune system, meaning if your pet’s immune system is weak, it will make it stronger and if it is too strong, it will balance it out.

For example, if your pet has an infection, boosting the immune system can help the body fight off the bacteria that caused the immune system to be weakened. But if your pet has an autoimmune disease (like allergies, Cushing’s, hypothyroid conditions, etc.) then the immune system would be more likely to overreact, chaga mushrooms would help to regulate it and stabilize the immune system.

Chaga Triple Liquid Extracts is an amazing addition to your pet's diet if you are looking to help balance immunity.

4. Lowers Blood Sugar

Chaga mushrooms can help to lower blood sugar which can be extremely beneficial for pets with diabetes.

Please note, that if you have a pet with diabetes you may want to check with your veterinarian and monitor the glucose levels when adding chaga mushrooms to the diet because it can interact with certain medications.

5. May Enhance Gut Health

If you have been following us for a while, then you know how much we speak about the importance of gut health. Over 80% of the immune system lies in the gut. When we improve gut health we can improve many health concerns that are linked to a poor immune system.

Chaga mushrooms contain prebiotics which can help balance gut bacteria, ease ulcers, and gastritis. Chaga mushroom extract may also be beneficial in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. (7)

Pre&Probiotics work together to enhance gut health and help our pets become more resilient and healthy.

Tincture VS Powder

For a mushroom’s medicinal values to be activated and bioavailable, they need to be extracted. Liquid extracts are able to hold and preserve the many bioactive compounds that are released during extraction

Liquid extractions are also easier to absorb that powder, as the body doesn’t need to digest anything and therefore the medicinal properties of the mushroom can be absorbed right into the system.

MYCO-BIOME mushrooms are broken down using a two-step process, the first with hot water, the second with organic alcohol. This limits the processing, which changes the active constituents, keeping it in its more natural state.

How to Choose the best product and get the most benefits for your money:

By now you know some of the amazing benefits of medicinal-grade chaga mushrooms and at this point we really hope that you are considering introducing chaga mushrooms for you and your pets.

Here is what to look out for:

  • Know where and how the mushrooms in your products are sourced and processed. The processing practices, including the growing and picking practices of the company, can have an effect on the quality and effectiveness of the end product. Choose products that are organic and sustainably grown and wild harvested.

  • We recommend choosing a liquid extract because they are more bioavailable which is super important. Mushrooms have many beneficial compounds within them which work synergistically together. Each molecule may have a specific purpose when it comes to how they support the body. Compared to powdered mushrooms, triple extraction liquids provide the complete full-spectrum compounds of the mushrooms that would be extremely beneficial for the overall health of the body.
