    How to Feed
    • Keep raw pet food frozen in the freezer at -18 Degree Celsius until ready to serve.
    • Thaw raw food in the fridge overnight. Keep raw pet food separate from other foods.
    • Place the thawed serving into your pet's bowl or LickiMat. Bon Appetit!
    • Store the remaining thawed Paleo Ridge Classic 80-10-10 meals in a sealed, airtight container in a designated area of the fridge and feed within 2 days (Essentials) or 3 days (Classic 80-10-10).

    SAFE HANDLING TIPS:

    • Raw pet food must be treated just like any other raw meat: with care. 
    • Wash all work surfaces, utensils, hands, and food bowls with hot, soapy water before and after handling raw pet food. 
    • Use a separate sponge to clean bowls and utensils that were used for raw pet food.
    • Keep raw pet food away from children and separate from other foods.

    How much raw food to feed your dog depends on your dog’s age, activity level, and body condition. Start with the lower recommended percentage and readjust the feeding amount if necessary.

    PUPPIES: Feed 2-3% of their anticipated 'ideal' adult body weight.

    HEALTHY DOGS: Feed 2-3% of their body weight. Smaller dogs and very active dogs may require a higher percentage of their body weight.

    OVERWEIGHT PETS: Feed 1.5-2% of their body weight. Adjust the amount again once your pet is at their ideal weight.

    What is the difference between Paleo Ridge Essentials and Classic 80-10-10?

    The Paleo Ridge Essential line is formulated to be complete & balanced for all life stages as per the FEDIAF guidelines. The meals contain a mix of pasture-raised meats, organs, bones, and organic vegetables. They are naturally complete & balanced which means they are 100% free of synthetic ingredients (aka "special nutrient mix"). Packaged in solid 500g portions (No patties). 

    Similarly to the Essentials, the classic 80-10-10 meals also contain pasture-raised meats, organs, and bones, and NO synthetic ingredients. However, the Classic 80-10-10 meals do NOT contain any vegetables, fruit, or oils. It is a 100% animal-based diet. The classic meals are balanced over time by feeding a mixture of different recipes. Packaged in solid 1kg portions (No patties). Because the Classic 80-10-10 meals do not contain vegetables, they would be more suitable for pets with a history of yeast infections or ear infections as these meals will better aid in starving yeast in the body.

    My vet says raw diets are bad, is this true?

    Conventional veterinarians are medical professionals and not qualified nutritionists, therefore veterinarians are often misinformed. Vets are subject to the same blanket advertising and sales pitches from processed food manufacturers as the buying public. The media is a very powerful tool.

    Veterinarians are the only medical professionals who actively promote feeding a highly processed diet over whole food diets. As humans, we know that highly processed foods are very bad for us, why would this be different for our four legged companions? Studies now show adding as little as 20% raw food to dry food diets can drastically decrease disease markers in dogs. The more raw food you can feed, the healthier your animal will be.

    Holistic veterinarians such as Dr. Karen Becker are avid supporters of balanced raw diets and a great resource to find more information about pet nutrition.

    How do I transition to raw?

    For most dogs, we recommend a slow transition to raw. This will help your dog slowly get used to the nutrient-dense food, the new smell, and taste. For the best results, we recommend adding Gut Soothe Pre & Probiotics during and after the transition to raw.

    • DAY 1-3: 25% Paleo Ridge and 75% old food
    • DAY 4-6: 50% Paleo Ridge and 50% old food
